Ruth Mae Martin, 76, of Austintown, passed away Wednesday evening, December 17th, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Boardman.
She was born December 31, 1948 in Youngstown, a daughter of James and Freda (Carpenter) Hale.
Ruth attended Austintown Fitch High School and worked in custodial/housekeeping for Mr. Fuel and TA Travel America Truck Stops for a time, and for the former Glenview Nursing home in Mineral Ridge, prior to retiring.
She married Leslie A. Martin on November 24, 1973. Together they shared 52 years of marriage and many happy memories. He survives her.
Ruth loved animals, especially dogs and horses. She also enjoyed gardening and flowers, cooking, music, and making jewelry and decorating her home. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her children and grandchildren, whom she dearly loved. Ruth was a kind, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Besides her husband Ruth is survived by three children; John Martin, of Canfield, Matthew (Charmian) Martin, of Homosassa, FL, and Sherry Delker, of Marysville, OH. She also leaves behind a brother, James (Laura) Hale, of Austintown; a sister, Barbara Baker, of Greene Twp.; five grandchildren; John, Ivy, Sara, Chastity, and Bailey; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Shirley Metcalf, and a granddaughter Samantha.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 23rd, at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave., Austintown, with Pastor Joel Theis officiating.
Friends may call 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
She will be laid to rest in the Brunstetter Cemetery, Austintown Twp.
