Ruth Moore Obituary

Ruth (Foxall) Moore, a beacon of joy, compassion, and unwavering faith, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, at the Moundsville Healthcare Center, at the age of 96. Born in Moundsville, WV, on September 16, 1929, Ruth lived a life that was as vibrant and full of love as the community she cherished deeply.

Ruth's journey through life was marked by her dedication to others, beginning professionally in 1969 as a medical receptionist for respected physicians such as Dr. E.Y. Bysal, Dr. Chaudary, and Dr. Nally. However, it was through her two decades as a beloved greeter at Altmeyer Funeral Homes that her warmth truly touched the hearts of countless families. Ever with a smile and a kind word, Ruth had a unique gift for making people feel at ease during their times of grief, offering comfort through her genuine care and empathy.

Her loves were simple yet profound: the companionship of her cherished dogs Ali Jo, Bubba, and Gram; the effervescence of Cherry Coke paired with a Hershey candy bar; and cheering fervently for her beloved WVU Mountaineers. Ruth's zest for life was apparent in her delight for life's adventures and shared moments of community participation.

A proud graduate of Moundsville High School, where she shone as a spirited cheerleader, Ruth remained a steadfast Trojan, helping to plan reunions that kept memories and friendships alive. Her commitment to community extended through her volunteer work with The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), where she continued her lifelong mission of treating everyone like family and making strangers feel like friends.

Ruth was deeply rooted in her faith, serving as a dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church in Moundsville, where she also found joy in teaching Sunday School. Her journey was paralleled by the strength she drew from her church and her community, living by the words she hoped would define her legacy: "What an adventure and what a ride!"

Preceding Ruth in death were her loving parents, Elmer and Isabel (Buchanan) Foxall, her brother D.E. "Bud" Foxall, her sister Jean Gulli, and her precious canine companions, especially "Big Red."

Although Ruth's family was small, her network of dear friends was extensive and full of love. Her loyal friends Debbie Barberio, Michelle Markey, and Pam Fox stood by her with unwavering support, reflecting the cherished bonds she formed. Together with countless other friends, Ruth's life was one of shared experiences, kindnesses, and deep affection.

Family, friends, and community members are invited to celebrate Ruth's remarkable life at a Memorial Gathering from 11:00 am followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville, WV. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.altmeyerfuneralhomes.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ruth's memory can be made to the Marshall County Animal Shelter, 37 Animal Shelter Dr., Moundsville, WV 26041, or online at www.tmcfunding.com.

Ruth Moore's life was a testament to love, friendship, and faith. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness that will continue to inspire all those who knew her. Her journey may have come to an end, but the story of her life remains written in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
