Ruth (Cuca) Muñoz, 95, of Bakersfield, California, passed away at her family home surrounded by family on April 17, 2025. She was born in Porterville, California on August 24, 1929 to Guadalupe and Trina Perez. They lived in Porterville for a few years before returning to San Julian, Jalisco, Mexico where she lived until she came to Bakersfield in her early twenties to live and work with her cousins in agriculture. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Manuel Muñoz whom she would marry in 1956.
Ruth was a homemaker and mother to five children. She kept busy taking care of the family and tending to their needs while teaching them to be good and faithful people. She loved to bake and was known for her apricot pies and banana nut bread that she would share with family and friends.
Ruth is survived by her husband Manuel, five children and their spouses: Norma and Tony Garcia, Lupe and Greg Gomez, Rick and Rosemary Muñoz, Victor Muñoz and Oscar Muñoz. She loved her four grandchildren: Ricky Muñoz Jr, Candice Avila, Gabby Castillo and Raquel Gomez. She was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Marcell, Marcus and Caroline Castillo; Violette, Adrian and Owen Avila; and Emily Muñoz. Ruth has one remaining sibling, Teresa Muñoz.
The viewing will be held at Greenlawn Chapel Northeast on Sunday, May 4, 2025, 2:00pm-6:00pm, Rosary at 4:00pm. Burial mass will be on Monday, May 5, 2025 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 601 East California Ave. Burial will immediately follow at Greenlawn Northeast.
