Funeral Service for Ruth Newill age 93 of Plainview, Nebraska will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 2025 at United Methodist Church in Plainview, Nebraska with Pastor Joan Alexander, Officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at United Methodist Church in Plainview. Snider Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Ruth passed away on June 6, 2025 at Plainview Manor. Condolences may be directed to the family at www.snidermemorial.com

Ruth Rosemond Newill was born on September 5, 1931 to Emmet and Ruth (Hultberg) Russell at Oakland, Nebraska. She attended school and graduated from Oakland High School with the Class of 1949. She was united in marriage to Ronald Newill on a farm south of Plainview on September 23, 1951. She earned her teacher certificate and taught at a country school. She also worked at JCPenney’s in Bellevue for many years and Alderman’s Variety Store in Plainview. Ruth and Ron enjoyed square dancing through the years; she was a Girl Scout leader. She also enjoyed sewing, bird watching, gardening, and spending time with her children and grandchildren and sharing her joy of genealogy. Ruth was a member of the United Methodist Church and played piano at Crawford Valley Church. She was a long-time member of Eastern Star. She spent the last few years of her life at the Plainview Manor where she enjoyed playing cards and putting puzzles together.
She is survived by her children: Barbara Beauchamp of Harker Heights, Texas; Wesley Newill of Plainview, NE; and Melanie Schumacher and Brad of Plainview, NE. 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and sister Dorothy Holmes of Plainview, NE.
Preceded in death by parents and husband. Daughter, Beverly and husband John Mack. Sister, Evelyn Kroeger and brother-in-law, Dale Holmes.
