Our beloved mother and grandmother Ruth Minnie (Story) Orme passed away unexpectedly on November 17th, 2025 at the age of 85 in Rock Hill, South Carolina due to a car accident.
She was born on January 16th, 1940 in Barton, New York to Elsie Marie Freiderike Louise Kroplin and Henry Williard Story and was the youngest of five children. She grew up in Owego, NY and went to a one-room schoolhouse prior to attending Owego High School. She attended Wilson School of Nursing and was a registered nurse. She practiced in New York and Utah before meeting her late husband, Samuel Collin Orme, in California while he attended Stanford University. They were married for 58 years. She often told people that she was a “jack of all trades, master of none.” She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, baking, reading, making cards and soap, doing puzzles, quilting, gardening, swimming, watching musicals, doing family history and spending time with her family. Ruth had a rare sense of humor could find the light in the seemingly mundane. Her laugh was infectious to all around her. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints who lived a life of service and sacrifice. She was faithfully attended Sunday services, Bible Study, and the temple. She served the community by delivering meals to the local homeless shelter.
