Ruth Naomi Payne

Ruth Naomi Payne, 70, of Spotsylvania County, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 5, 2026, at the home where she was raised.

Naomi cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her beloved granddogs. She was a member of Hebron Baptist Church and dedicated 35 years of service to Spotsylvania Public Schools before retiring.

She is survived by her children, Dana Lettiner (Lee), Daniel Payne (Courtney), and Bradley Payne (Renee); grandchildren Devin Smith, Dylan Smith (Mandy), Kaylyn Smith (Jordan), Jake Smith, Owen Payne, Jaxon Payne, Jaydon Payne, Colten Payne, and Makenzie Payne; great-grandchildren Ellie Smith and Evelynn Smith; sisters Lil Hall and Juantia Wyant; numerous nieces and nephews; and her cherished dog, Lucy.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Danny Payne; her parents, John and Madalene Curtis; and her brothers, Jack Curtis, Russell Curtis, Marion Curtis, and Lonnie Curtis.

A service to celebrate Naomi's life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Hebron Baptist Church in Spotsylvania, Virginia. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Following the service, all are invited to join the family for refreshments in the church social hall.
