Eva "Ruth" Henry Phifer was born April 25, 1947 to Alva Lee "Poke" Henry and Dovie Mae Clouse Henry in Sparta TN. She entered eternity on Sunday, March 1, 2026 at the age of 78. She was a member of West Sparta Church of Christ.

Ruth worked in several factories and shirt factories throughout the years. She was also a caretaker for two elderly ladies. Ruth had a nurturing spirit, and was an excellent cook specializing in fried chicken and rice. She loved to cook for her family.

She leaves behind one son, Jeff Phifer (Connie Young), two grandchildren, Bailey & Aiden Phifer, who were the joy of her life, a sister, Mary Etta Henry Usrey, and a sister-in-law, Louise Gentry Henry, along with 16 nieces and nephews. Ruth was also Granny to Connie's 5 children, 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Alva & Dovie Henry, and infant sister, Ila Ruth Henry

Ruth chose cremation. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 28, at 2 pm at West Sparta Church of Christ with Derrick Cobble officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 1- 2 pm.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff who cared for Ruth during her illness, especially Sparta NHC for their caring treatment during her final days.
