PLONKA, Ruth (nee Kaleja), age 99 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her daughters Cristina and Irene Plonka. Ruth was born March 23,1925 in Poland to parents Joseph and Gertrude Kaleja. She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Gerard Plonka, brothers William (Hilda) Kaleja, and Jan (Ewa) Kaleja. Survived by by her loving daughters Cristina and Irene Plonka, nephews Ewald (Malgozata) Kaleja, Henryk (Beata) Kaleja, niece Magdalena (Kamil) Tinschert in Poland, and great nephew, Samuel
Ruth and husband immigrated from Venezuela to the United States (Michigan) in 1963, making their first home in Hamtramck, Michigan. Ruth was a loving, caring and devoted mother who taught her daughters to speak Polish, Polish customs and traditions as well as speaking Spanish. Ruth was devoted to her faith and was a Parishioner at Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Ruth and husband Gerard enjoyed traveling to Venezuela and Europe.
Visitation Thursday 3-8pm with a 6pm Rosary at Wujek - Calcaterra & Sons Inc., (Shelby) 54880 Van Dyke at 25 Mile Rd. Instate Friday from 10am until time of 10:30am Mass at Our Lady Of Czestochowa Church, 3100 18 Mile Rd, Sterling Heights, MI 48314. Entombment at Resurrection Cemetery.
