Ruth Ann Ramey, 86, of
Reynoldsburg, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on September 28, 2025. She was born on August 11, 1939, in Bonanza, Kentucky, to Cecil and Mae Snipes, and grew up in a large and loving family with ten siblings: Leatrice (Jr) Reed, Lois (Herman) Keene, Jan (Louise) Drury, Leo (Dorothy) Snipes, Bob (Clarinda) Snipes, Joe (Ollia) Snipes, Velma (Larry) Bishop, Mary (Donnie) Auck, Barb (Jim) Yosick, and Doug (Sharon) Snipes.
As a young girl, Ruth worked hard to help out with her large family. She spent long days "in the muck" pulling weeds and was so proud when she was finally promoted to the "radish gang." Later in life, she loved retelling those stories with humor and warmth, and they became family favorites. They reminded us not only of her strong work ethic and resilience, but also of her gift for finding joy in even the hardest of tasks.
In December of 1960, Ruth married the love of her life, Jim Ramey. Together they shared nearly 65 years of marriage, routinely depicting love, respect, and commitment in a way that made their relationship honorable and worth emulating. Ruth had a natural gift for creating a welcoming and beautiful home, and her eye for beauty showed in every space she touched. She poured her time and energy into caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Family was at the center of Ruth's heart. She and Jim were blessed with three children, Gina (Ken) Matthias, Julie (John) Harmony, and Tom (Julie) Ramey. She cherished her grandchildren Krista Matthias, Nathan Harmony, Brandon (Mallory) Harmony, Haley (Justin) Smith, and Sam (Maddie) Ramey, and her great-grandchildren Brendan and Claudia Matthias and Judah and Andrew Smith. Each one was a source of pride and joy. Ruth was relentless in her love for them. She told each grandchild they were perfect and proudly shared with others that they were, no matter how much evidence suggested otherwise. To her, they truly were perfect, and in that way she gave her family the clearest picture of unconditional love.
One of Ruth's many joys was found in giving. She loved shopping for her family, always clothing them well and never once letting her Kohl's Cash expire. In recent days, her family has joked that Kohl's will surely miss her. Her children and grandchildren could hardly visit her house without leaving with a pop to go, a candle she thought they'd enjoy, or a few dollars secretly slipped into a pocket. These small gestures spoke volumes about the way she loved to care for others.
Faith was at the center of Ruth's life. As a young adult, she placed her trust in Jesus as her Savior and carried that faith unwaveringly throughout her years. Ruth loved to tell others about her faith, whether with friends and family or complete strangers. Nurses, servers, cashiers in the checkout line, and anyone who crossed her path would often hear her speak of the goodness of Jesus. She lived as a testimony of her belief and shared it openly with joy and conviction.
Ruth's life was one of love, devotion, and generosity. She will be remembered for her smile, her stories, her deep faith, and her boundless love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives of those she loved so dearly.
Ruth's family will receive friends and loved ones on Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 4:30 to 7:00pm at East Side Grace Brethren Church, 7510 East Broad Street, Blacklick, Ohio 43004. Funeral services will be held at the church on Friday, October 3 at 10am with a graveside service immediately following at Glen Rest Cemetery. A luncheon will be served after the graveside service.
