Ruth Bolt Rose, 89, of Brevard, NC, passed away on September 20, 2024. She was born on November 15, 1934, near the headwaters of the Tuckasegee River in Jackson County, and she was the daughter of Lonnie N. Bolt and Otelia Shook Bolt of Jackson County, North Carolina.
She is preceded in death by brother Ben Bolt of Pisgah Forest, NC, and Nephew Doug Phil Leslie of Tuckasegee, NC.
She is survived by her daughter Sandra Bolt Franks (Randall) of Pisgah Forest NC; granddaughters, Amy Franks and Loni Franks Dieterich; great granddaughters, Mikayla Sherlin and Caitlyn Sherlin, Braylin Otelia Dieterich; great grandsons, Cayden David Dieterich and Jaxsen Carter Thomas; great-great-granddaughters, Sawyer Paige, MaryJane Harper, and Amelia Grace, all of Pisgah Forest, NC; son John Edward Rose (Tracey) of Brevard, NC; grandson, Jonathan Drew Rose, and great-grandson Ira, of Flat Rock, NC; brothers J.D. Bolt (Elizabeth) of Brevard, NC, Erby Bolt of Pisgah Forest, NC, and sister Anna Faye Leslie of Pisgah Forest, NC; nephew, Mark Bolt (Lisa) of Pisgah Forest, NC, and Niece Kim Leslie Hall (Greg) of Lake Toxaway, NC; a special great-niece, Aubrey Brieanna Leslie and her children of Pisgah Forest, NC; great nephew, Chance Bolt of Colorado.
In her younger years, she worked and lived in Long Island, New York before returning to her beloved mountains. She retired from E.I. Dupont. After retirement, she enjoyed planting a garden and working in her flowers at home, and at her home place in Jackson County. She loved her children and grandchildren who brought her great joy. She loved her home in Jackson County.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
