Ruth Scheuermann-Rau Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Miller-Dutra Coastside Chapel & Funeral Home on Dec. 31, 2025.
It is with a heavy heart that announce the passing of R. Heidi Scheuermann Rau (60), our beloved mother and wife. Heidi passed peacefully on the evening of Dec. 22, 2025, at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in South San Francisco, surrounded by loved ones.

Heidi was born on Oct. 7, 1965, in Warwick, NY, to parents Ruth A. Vozza and Christian Scheuermann. She spent her adolescence between the tennis courts, the golf course, and on the water, spending summers with her mom on their boat "The 19th Hole." Heidi graduated from Warwick Valley High School and the State University of New York at Albany, followed by an MBA in Healthcare Administration from Baruch College/Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. She dedicated her career to making other's lives happier and healthier, although it's a little bit more complicated than that.

Heidi married Walter Rau on July 10, 1999, in Truckee, CA, after meeting him in the same home they still share in Olympic Valley. Her stuffed mushrooms were something for the ages, and Walter knew quickly that he couldn't let her go. The two moved to Half Moon Bay, CA, shortly thereafter, where they built their family and became active members of the community, cheering on her daughters at countless sporting events, piano recitals, and various school productions throughout the years. If the weather was fitting, you could count on finding her on the beach or walking up and down the coastal trail, usually listening to her favorite country artists or classic rock.

Heidi enjoyed life thoroughly. She was always up for an adventure, always willing to open her home and her heart to anyone who needed it, and could make you laugh so hard you couldn't breathe. She was creative and silly, she never missed an opportunity to sing and dance, and brought joy and light into every room she walked into.

Heidi is survived by her husband of 26 years, Walter, her two daughters, Dania and Elle Rau, and the newest member of the family, Mac, her favorite furry friend.

To Heidi's Family,
I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved mother and wife. She was an incredible person and a kind and helpful friend.
Heidi and I spent a lot of time together from 2nd grade through our middle school years. Her Mom, Ruth, was an incredible cook and baker and we had many wonderful meals together. We all cooked together and Heidi and I snuck a lot of icing while attempting to decorate cakes. I especially remember our always wanting chicken caccitore for dinner! We would be covered in sauce and Ruth threatened to hose us down in the yard if we got sauce on anything!
We decorated the Christmas tree together and were in the same Brownie and Girl Scout troops. We worked so hard to get all of our badges and sold more Girl Scout cookies than the other troops combined! We walked miles upon miles on the slate sidewalks of Warwick, ringing door bells and selling our cookies! We would laugh and sing and dance and we're just goofy together. We camped and golfed, played tennis and we're always up for a good time. Heidi will be always remembered as a special friend from my childhood and I am so blessed to have known her. May happy memories help to ease your pain. Fondly, Sue Toffel-Foster
