Archdale – Ruth Stilley Stanley, 94, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, at Hospice Home at High Point.

Ruth was born on September 23, 1931, in Forsyth County to the late Vermell Stilley Lawson. Ruth was preceded in death by her mother, her husband (James D. Stanley), stepdaughter (Debbie Johnson), two brothers (Kenneth Stilley and Calvin Lawson), and daughter-in-law (Suann Stanley).

Ruth enjoyed traveling with her late husband and took many bus trips with her sister Kay Wiles. She loved all animals, especially dogs and cats. She was a voracious reader after she retired from her role as a Sewing Supervisor for Brayton International, and she loved cooking for friends and family as well. Her proudest accomplishment was achieving her GED at the age of sixty-one.

Ruth is survived by her daughters Alice Reid and Nancy Stanley; stepsons James A. Stanley (Donna) and Richard Stanley (Gena); siblings Jerry Lawson and Kay Wiles; ten grandchildren, including Tyler Stanley, who acted as her dedicated caregiver and advocate for the last several years of her life; and several great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews will also cherish memories of her.

The family will greet friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Cumby Family Funeral Service at 206 Trindale Road in Archdale. A service will begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel with Pastor John Sides officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Gilead Methodist Church Cemetery in Trinity.

Condolences may be shared with the family on Ruth's tribute page at www.cumbyfuneral.com.
