Ruth Still, 66, passed away on June 23rd, 2025, at her home in Richardson, Texas.
Born December 12, 1958, Ruth was the fourth of six children born to Ramon and Patricia Alberga in Kingston, Jamaica. She attended St. Andrews School and spent her summers in the mountains, playing outside with her siblings.
In 1976, Ruth began her undergraduate studies at Lubbock Christian College. She completed her education at Mary Meek School of Nursing, where she graduated at the top of her class and was chosen as the recipient of the Florence Nightingale Award. While there, she met Kirk Still and they were married on July 19th,1980 in Dallas, Texas. Together they raised a daughter and a son, Rebecca and Andrew.
Ruth dedicated more than 40 years to her nursing career, 22 of which were spent at DFW Fertility. She had the incredible ability to help patients navigate some of life's most profound moments with ease. Her compassion touched generations of families and inspired everyone who had the privilege to work alongside her. Ruth will be remembered for the thoughtful and caring way she brought joy to everyone around her.
Those who loved her knew Ruth was just so much fun, bringing bright energy to every encounter. Ruth was a unique grandmother, running, playing, and biking with her beloved grandchildren. She created games and stories and treasure hunts, and never told them no. Her over-the-top party planning skills were legendary and her holiday decorations and celebrations were always spectacular. True to her tropical roots, she loved the beach, and picking fruit - she once brought home 32 pounds of blueberries!
Ruth was a passionate gardener, and her yard was overflowing with beautiful flowers. She was happiest bringing home a trunkful of plants and then spending the day up to her elbows in dirt. Many of her flowers became gorgeous arrangements with her special touch. She battled the extreme Texas weather by watering diligently in the summer, and carting everything inside in the winter. For years she cared for "Ugly", a Night-blooming Cereus, even bringing it on a trip to Austin so as not to miss the rare bloom.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Ramon and Patricia Alberga, and brother John Alberga. She is survived by her daughter Rebecca Williams and husband Ben, grandchildren Cam and Tom, her son Andrew Still and wife Jen, grandsons Jackson and Carter, brothers Michael and Charles Alberga, and sisters Mary and Cathy Alberga.
A Celebration of Life will take place Friday 3 pm July 25, 2025, at Creekwood United Methodist Church located at 261 Country Club Rd, Allen, TX 75002. https://youtube.com/live/vAkLwda6eEc?feature=share
