Norma Jean Mobley-Higginbotham passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, September 19th, 2025 in Flower Mound, Texas. Just ten days earlier, she celebrated her 91st birthday where she enjoyed her favorite cake (german-chocolate) and shared her gratitude for the impact everyone around her had made on her in her ninety-one'derful years. She shared how the Lord had led her, oftentimes carried her and continued to bless her.

Norma was born in McKinney, TX on September 8, 1934 and grew up in a bustling household with her siblings Brenda and Judy. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson high school in Dallas and later worked for AT&T in Dallas and Houston. Wherever she traveled she was sure to find a church home. That's where she met Sam in 1959 in Houston, TX. While her mother was very anxious for her to marry, she waited for the Lord to send her just the right man.

To her husband Sam, she was a devoted, supportive, compassionate, and loving wife for more than six decades of marriage.

She lived her life with "the heart of a servant", always giving, always smiling, always finding joy in lifting up others. Over the years, she and Sam devoted time to volunteering, often feeding and clothing those in need. They also enjoyed square-dancing and participating in bowling leagues - they traveled with friends and family across the globe, even visiting the Holy Land, which was her favorite!

To her children and grandchildren she was an example of kindness, faith, and joy. To her siblings, she was not only a sister, but a mother figure, a confidant, and a lifelong friend.

She is survived by her husband Sam, her sister Judy Brundidge of Lindale, her children Gregory Higginbotham of Wylie, TX and Timothy Higginbotham and wife Stacy of Highland Village NINE grandchildren: LCDR Thomas Higginbotham USN (Ret) and wife Laura of Leonardtown Maryland, Francesca Pleasants and husband Jason of Houston, Jessica Shankman and husband Justin of Tyler, Kira Gemini and husband Vance of Tyler, Samantha Higginbotham of Denton, Zoe and Matthew Higginbotham of Highland Village, TX and Jade Iaukea and husband Kaipo of Hilo, Hawaii. Plus, NINE great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild! Plus, countless friends who will hold her memory dear.

She was preceded in death by her parents Aileen and Howard Mobley, her sister Brenda and brother-in-law Jim Reeves of Houston, stepson Jeff Higginbotham of Houston, brother-in-law AW Brundidge of Tyler, daughter-in-law Kristy Higginbotham of Wylie, great-grandson Joey McCoy of Tyler, as well as many loved ones who no doubt welcomed her home.

Norma's life was a testament to love, faith, and joyful service. She will be deeply missed and the lessons she taught and the example she set will continue to guide all who were blessed to know her.

The viewing will take place at 1:00 PM, followed by the service at 2PM, both held at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, located at 740 South Edmonds Lane, Lewisville, Texas on Sunday, September 28, 2025. There will not be a graveside service as she will be buried at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Her story does not end here; it lives on in the hearts of those who loved her.
