Ruth Marie (Solberg) Stimpert, 86, of Rosemont, MN, passed away on August 12, 2023 peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Ruth was born on March 12th, 1937, to parents Edward and Mabel Solberg on the family farm in Erskine, MN. After Ruth graduated from Erskine High School in 1955, she went on to become a lab technician in the radiology department and worked for a doctor in Minneapolis, MN, for 15 years. While living in Minneapolis Ruth met the love of her life John C Stimpert. They got married January 7, 1967 in Minneapolis. Ruth and John honeymooned in St. Thomas Virgin Islands. They spent many years traveling to various places, Mexico City, Acapulco, Puerto Rico, Honolulu, Portugal, and Canada with Mexico being her favorite. Ruth especially loved going on road trips to see family and friends. She and John enjoyed going off the beaten path, creating their own special memories. Together they would find back country roads where John would always pick a pretty flower for her. They also enjoyed taking in nature while stopping to look at different wild animals, bears, geese, mink, moose which were favorites of Ruth's.
In 1975, they adopted their daughter Susan from Vietnam while they were living in Appley Valley, MN, and then became a stay-at-home mom. In 1978 they left Minnesota moving across the United States. Over the years they lived in Apple Valley MN, Onekama MI, Travers City MI, Trinidad CA, Granger IN, Grand Forks ND, Union Lake in Erskine MN, Larimore ND, Devils Lake ND and finally Rosemount MN. Ruth enjoyed reading, baking (known for her buns), camping, miles of canoeing, and of course shopping at her favorite store, TJ MAXX. Ruth loved football. She could talk to anyone about football, especially her favorite team the Vikings. She had a Viking Christmas ornament that she'd hang on the Christmas tree according to how well they were doing that season. Sometimes it would even go in the back of the Christmas tree. In 2017 Ruth became a grandmother to Wesley Safranski, her ultimate pride and joy. Grandma enjoyed letting Wesley navigate through her purse, asking what each item was and what it was for, even though Wesley had done this hundreds of times. He then carefully always put everything back. She said that she will always watch over Wesley and that it will take a lot of watching.
Ruth is survived by husband John C Stimpert, daughter Susan (Jeremy) Safranski, grandson Wesley Safranski from Lakeville MN, brother Bruce Solberg of Erskine MN, sister Joan "Patsy" Vick of Sioux Falls SD, Lanny Martin of Pembina ND. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Mabel Solberg, brother Jerry Solberg, sister Emogene Solberg, sister Rita Trandem, brother Toby Solberg, and sister Joanne Solberg.
No service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to donate to St. Jude's Hospital or Shriners Hospital, as Ruth was very charitable and tender hearted to helping people in need.

John so very sorry to hear of Ruth passing. Getting to know her and you while working at Lakeside in Erskine was such a pleasure! She was always so bubbly and full of life. And working with Bruce was great! He thought the world of his sister! And you as well. God Bless! May Ruth rest in peace. Sherry Schiefert
