Ruth Ann Thigpen-Andrews, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, May 3rd 2023 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro. She was born on August 11th 1943 in Screven County to the late Frank Lee and Mary Murray Lee. Ruth was raised in Sylvania and was a 1961 graduate of Screven High School. She moved to Statesboro shortly after high school and worked for Bulloch Rural, now Bulloch Solutions, for over 40 years. In her retirement, she continued working some while also enjoying time with her family and grandchildren. She served on the Board of Directors at Bulloch Academy while her children attended, and was a member of Wades Baptist Church in Coopersville. Ruth loved her animals and had many rescue cats and dogs that she enjoyed caring for. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Bill Lee.
Ruth Ann is survived by her husband of 7 years, Danny Andrews, her two sons and daughters-in-law, Alan and Lisa Thigpen, and Lamar and Jennifer Thigpen, her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Jason Williams, her grandchildren, Michael (Heather) Thigpen, Garrett (Casi) Thigpen, Greta Thigpen, Don Thigpen, Jake Williams, Molly Williams, and Claire Williams, and her great-grandchildren, Adaline Thigpen, Creighton Thigpen, Cannon Thigpen, and Charli Jo Thigpen.
The family will receive visitors on Friday from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home in Statesboro.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 11:00am at Bulloch Memorial Gardens with Elder Craig Lanier officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any memorial contributions be made to your local humane society.
