Ruth R Thome

Ruth R. Thome (Winkler)

February 1, 1927 - October 23, 2025

Born in North Olmsted, OH to Theodore and Rinetta Winkler. She was a switch board operator at Terminal Tower in Cleveland during WWII. She met her future husband, Ray, at the Columbia Ballroom right after the war.

Ruth was a home maker and an accomplished cook and baker. Family was one of the most important things to her. She was warm-hearted and friendly. She worked with her husband on the family farm where they had a well-known vegetable stand. Ruth lived at home until the age of 98 before moving into hospice care just prior to her death.

A favorite activity of Ruth's was attending auctions and flea markets in search of more items to add to her Majolica collection.

Ruth is survived by her beloved children Raymond Jr. of Avon, OH, Sandi Blease (Ian) of Napoleon, OH, Susan Thome-Barrett of Orlando, FL, and Jerry(Roberta) of Elyria, OH; cherished grandchildren Tristan, Sara, Hannah, Allen, and Joshua.

She was pre-deceased by her husband of 67 years Raymond Sr, parents, Theodore and Rinetta Winkler, and brother, Paul Winkler.

A visitation will be held for Ruth on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 5-7pm at Busch Funeral Home, 32000 Detroit Ave, Avon, OH. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at 11am at Busch Funeral Home, 32000 Detroit Ave, Avon, OH with catering to follow.
