Ruth was in my Sunday School class at Tattnall when I taught there. She was very dear and special to me. I know you have many wonderful memories, and they will help soften the blow of her loss, although I believe we will always feel the sorrow of a loved one's homegoing. I'm sorry this is so late, but my husband and I have been out of town, and I just heard about Ruth. Please know that you and yours are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Carol, James, Lois, Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren,
My mother, Rowena Fiveash Wood, was a classmate from nursing school and lifelong friend of Ruth's. I think your Mom/Grandmom/Great-Grandmom was the last member of her class to pass away. Mom often spoke of Ruth, Martha (Patton), Jean (Hudson), and Sue. Dad (Max J. Wood) said that Mom referred to Ruth as the "baby" of the class, since she was the youngest. The last time I saw Ruth was in April of 1999 when she came to our house after Mom's death after a long battle with cancer. During her illness, Ruth remained a friend and inspiration to Mom, as they talked often. She and my dad had remained in contact, and Dad last spoke to her several months ago. I have many good memories of the stories of the good times my Mom and yours had in nursing school and the friendship they shared
Time will ease your loss, but the good memories of Ruth's life will be in your hearts forever.

Carol/Clark -
What a flood of very pleasant memories come to mind when I think of your wonderful mother. I guess the one memory I cherish most is her caring attitude when she worked for Dr. Hendrix. As Principal of Perry Elementary School, I always carried those children who were sick or got hurt at school to Dr. Hendrix. Your mom would see that they got immediate attention as well as a little piece of candy when we were finished seeing the doctor. She was much more than a nurse to those of us who called her "friend." She was a gracious lady, full of Southern charm, and an inspiration to those of us who were privileged to know her. We, too, will miss her.
