Pederson-Nowatka Funeral Home - WatertownRuth M. Uttech, 85 of Watertown, was called to Heaven on Sunday, March 29, 2026.
Ruth Mildred Kube was born on April 5, 1940, in the family home on Fremont Street in Watertown to Walter and Edna (Hoppe) Kube. She was baptized on May 5,1940, at St. John's Lutheran church in Watertown.
Ruth attended kindergarten at the library as the Lincoln school burned down just as school started. She attended St. John's school through 8th grade and graduated from Watertown High school.
She married Rodney Uttech on June 2, 1973, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Besides being a much called for babysitter, Ruth also worked part time as a checkout person for the former National Food store (last known as Breselow’s). Ruth actively served her church through choir, teaching Sunday School and the youth group the Walther League where she became president of the South Wisconsin district. Her first full-time job was with G. B. Lewis, which later became Orbis and moved to Oconomowoc where she worked for over 43 years before retiring.
She was also thankful for the 50 years she had teaching Sunday school later at St. John's, Good Shepherd, Faith, and then at St. Luke's. She was instrumental in the start of the ROC youth center where she worked with the directors, volunteered with attendees, and organized the ROC rummage sale. When her sons switched to St. Luke's school she again volunteered as teacher’s aids and where the kindergartners called her "grandma" Uttech. She served many ways at St. Luke's church.
She is proceeded in death by her husband, Rodney, her parents and siblings - Doris Kube, Edward, Harold and Norman Bowman and daughter-in-law Jackie Uttech. She is survived by her 3 sons - Timothy, Nathan and Matthew and her sister Millie (Delmar) Gauerke. Ruth is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at St. Luke’s Ev. Lutheran Church of Watertown with Rev. Peter Korthals presiding. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church.
Love You Forever.
