Ruth Louise (Wilkerson) Wallace passed away July 20 in Yukon. Louise was born December 14, 1925, in Banner to parents, Harry Brian Wilkerson and Lulu (Schumacher) Wilkerson. She was a lifetime resident of Canadian County, graduating in 1943 from El Reno High School. After high school she trained as a nurse through the Cadet Nurse Corps program at Western Oklahoma State Hospital in Clinton, graduating in 1946.
Louise married Warren Carl Wallace on December 31, 1948. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Mt. Zion United Methodist Women, Lamplighters HCE, and Canadian County Gideons Auxiliary. She worked as a registered nurse for 30 years, 25 of those at Park View Hospital in El Reno.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Carl of 60 years, infant twin daughters, granddaughter Esther Wallace, brothers Donald Gene Wilkerson and Leonard Dale Wilkerson.
Survivors include her daughter, Carla Brueggen and husband, Henry, of Bethany; her son Benjamin J. Wallace and wife Joyce of Goldsby; grandchildren Beth McCoy and husband Bradley, Laura German and husband Dale, Oliver Wallace, Isaac Wallace, and Abe Wallace; 2 great-grandchildren Dale George German and Ruth McCoy; brothers Harry Vern Wilkerson & wife Gladys of Tuttle, and Darrel Frank Wilkerson and wife Nadine of Yukon and other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Ruth Louise (Wilkerson) Wallace will be held Tuesday, July 27 at Mount Zion United Methodist Church northeast of El Reno with Rev. Lamarla Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Services are under direction of Wilson Funeral Home.
The family thanks Russel-Murray Hospice and the staff at Spanish Cove for their excellent care.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Ruth Louise Wallace Endowed Nursing Scholarship at Redlands Community College Foundation, 1300 S Country Club Road, El Reno OK 73036, Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 3201 150th St. NE, El Reno OK 73036, or The Gideons International.
