Ruth E. Watson
Ruth Evangeline Watson was born July 16, 1922, to Elbert and Violet Craddick Bloom in Abbey, Saskatchewan, Canada. She passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Prestige Care and Rehabilitation in Lewiston.
She and her older brother were born in Canada as their parents were homesteading there at the time, but the family moved to Peck not long after her birth. She attended school and graduated from Peck High School in 1940.
She married Ronald Eller in 1946. They had a daughter, Cherylene. Ron passed away in 1949.
She married William Dawson in 1951. They had a son, Keith. That marriage ended in divorce in 1961.
She moved the family to Lewiston in 1961 and worked at Medical Service Bureau. After a couple of years, she got a job as a clerk at Washington Water Power (now Avista), and worked there until the late 1970's.
She married Ernest Watson in 1968. After leaving Washington Water Power, she did bookkeeping and payroll for their roofing and insulation business. They divorced in 1996.
Ruth spent many years as an active member of the Grace Lutheran Church family and made many friends there. She also enjoyed entertaining, needlework and ironing, which she did for many people over the years.
In 2016, she was especially happy to be reunited with her first child, Linda Sue, whom she had given up for adoption in 1945. With Linda Sue came many new grandchildren and great-grandchildren who have become a welcome addition to our family.
Ruth is survived by daughter Cherylene (Dick), son Keith (Cris), sister Beverly (Ed), son-in-law Chuck Gertner, grandchildren Ken (Kelley), Kasey (Christie), Doug, Jenay (Ricki), Michael, James and Ryan. Also surviving her are eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Bernard and Don, sister Doris and daughter Linda Sue.
The family would like to thank the staff at Prestige for the care and kindness they showed Mom during her stay with them.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29, at Grace Lutheran Church, 3434 Sixth St., Lewiston. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to Grace Lutheran Church or to a charity of your choice.
