Harue “Ruth” Whitson, 83, of Tiptonville, died Friday, July 12, 2024, at West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg. She is the daughter of the late Loy and Eula Davis Box. She was a member of Wynnburg Baptist Church and an active member of Tiptonville Senior Citizens Group.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Wynnburg Baptist Church officiated by Reverend Chuck Graham with interment to follow in Haynes Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive visitors Tuesday, from 1:00 PM until service time at the church.
Richard Smith, Jr., Josh Poole, John R. Whitson, Seth Whitson, John Parker Whitson, Hayden Smith, Timmy Troutman and Michael Troutman will serve at pallbearers.
She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Whitson of Tiptonville; two sons, Johnny Whitson, Jr. of Tiptonville, Allen Whitson (Kim) of Dyersburg; one sister, Mayrene Pratt (Ronnie) of Tiptonville; five brothers, Edward Box (Mary) of Parsons, Billy Box (Carol) of Dyersburg, Charles Box (Nadine), Doug Box, Larry Box (Darla), all of Parsons, special sibling, Clarence and Shirley Brown of Parsons; six grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Whitson, Sr.; three sisters, Sue Baker, Helen Mays and Levon Hosford;; and three brothers, Junior Box, J.B. Box, and Tommy Box.
