Ruthann Ferguson

Ruth Ann Ferguson, (nee Setterstrom), a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and longtime resident of Ocean Grove, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on September 8, 1938, Ruth Ann grew up in North Arlington with a strong sense of family, loyalty, and quiet determination-qualities that shaped her life and the lives of

those she loved.

Ruth Ann worked at Bell Telephone after graduating from North Arlington High School. She later joined Connelly Distributing, dedicating many years of service before retiring in 1996.

Ocean Grove became her cherished home, a place where she found comfort in the community, loving the ocean air from her rocking chair porch, and the rhythms of small- town life. For many years, she joyfully summered in one of Ocean Grove's iconic tent houses, a tradition that brought her deep happiness and connected her to the heart of the town she

loved. As a child, she split her summers between her grandparents' farm and Green Pond, creating memories that stayed with her throughout her life. She took great joy in watching her family grow and celebrating the milestones, big and small, that marked their lives. Her greatest pride was her children and grandchildren, whose accomplishments she followed with unwavering love.

Ruth Ann was predeceased by her husband, William "Fergie" Ferguson, her sister, Doris DeVries, and her parents, Charles and Adele (Von Thun) Setterstrom, all of whom she held close in her heart throughout her life.

She is survived by her children: Patricia (Gene Lewis); William (Jeanne); John (Georgine); LeaAn (Chris Ciavatta); and Kristen (Daniel Sandowick). She leaves behind ten grandchildren and one great grandchild who brought her endless joy: Shannon Fischer (Nicholas & Nicholas Grover); William Ferguson (Weston); Kevin Ferguson; Chris Ciavatta; Danny Sandowick; Janelle Sandowick; Jack Ciavatta; Derek Sandowick; Michael "Kiki" Ciavatta; and Drew Sandowick. She was also a bonus grandmother to Mark Lewis (Ashley and Matteo) and Scott Lewis.

Her family will remember her for her quiet strength, her gentle spirit, and the deep love she carried for those closest to her. Ruth Ann's legacy lives on in the traditions she nurtured, the stories she shared, and the steadfast devotion she showed to her family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite charity. The family would also like to thank Serenity Hospice and the staff at Seaton for their care and support.
