Ryan Timoney Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kramer Family Funeral & Cremation Center on Feb. 2, 2025.
Ryan, a devoted father, son, brother and lover of the great outdoors, passed away on January 26, 2024. His heart belonged to the vast landscapes of National Parks, where he found joy in camping under star-filled skies and capturing the beauty of nature through his camera lens. Whether it was the vibrant red and orange rock formations of Cedar Breaks, the rugged peaks of the Rocky Mountains, or the quiet serenity of a meadow of wild flowers, Ryan had a talent for capturing our beautiful world.
Ryan was raised in Sandy Utah, the youngest of five children. He graduated from Jordan High School in 1979. He went to Southern Utah State College on a scholarship in technical theatre, but a class in plant science sparked his love of natural science. He transferred to Utah State University and earned a degree in turf management. He worked as an assistant greenskeeper for several years at the Salt Lake Country Club, before moving on to consulting and sales at Granite Seed Company.
Ryan's skills in theatre lighting and love of musicals led him to donate hundreds of hours at Jordan, Alta, and Hillcrest high schools, and Sandy City Community Theatre as a lighting designer and technician. Later he volunteered his time & talents to multiple high schools' dance, tennis, and cheerleading teams.
For nearly 30 years, Ryan made time each evening to sit with his mother and watch the nightly news-a ritual that spoke to his steadfast devotion to her. His daughters were the center of his world, and no matter how big or small their troubles, he was always ready with a solution. Ryan believed his girls were perfect and bragged about them constantly, often to strangers.
A lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox, Ryan cheered passionately through every high and low of the team's storied history. Whether it was discussing the latest game or recounting legendary moments, his love for baseball was as unwavering as his love for his family.
He is survived by his wife, Susie, his daughters, Ailian and Ari, his mother, Margaret Timoney, his sisters, Kathy Atkinson, Megan Timoney, and Robyn Bishop, and his brother, Sean Timoney. They will carry his spirit with them on every trail walked, every flower, tree, or grass identified, and every ballgame watched. He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Timoney.
Ryan died secure in God's love and trusting in the salvation purchased for him through Christ's death and resurrection and has now joined his Lord in eternal glory. A funeral for Ryan will be held on February 23, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Christ Lutheran Church, 240 E. 5600 S., Murray, Utah. Susie, I was saddened to hear about the passing of your husband. I can´t say I remember meeting him, but sure my parents probably did. I will keep you and the girls in my prayers. He was my age and graduated the same year. Way too young to die.
