Mr. Ryo DeCari Steele, 19, of Rocky Mount, North Carolina transitioned on Sunday, July 13, 2025.

It was on March 15, 2006 when the Lord blessed Xaviera Steele and Derrick Steele Sr. with their bundle of joy. They named him Ryo DeCari Steele, with 19 beautiful years of life on this earth. God sent his angels and called our son from labor to reward.
Ryo departed this life Sunday July 13, 2025. He was educated in Durham and Nash County upon graduating, he attended Wake Technical Community College, then went on to work for SE&M until his timely death. He will always be remembered, his bubbly personality, sunny disposition and work ethic strong as steel, he already held the keys to life and loved every bit of it!
Proceeding Ryo in death, his grandmother, Mary Bishop Steele and one aunt Shanna Hopkins Freeman.
He leaves behind to cherish precious and dear memories of his life, his mother and father, Xaviera and Derrick Steele Sr. of the home, siblings: Jamaria Richardson, Derrick Steele Jr., Nikidda Perry, Sha'cola Steele all of Durham, Eleanor Steele, Elizabeth Steele, Derrick Steele III of the home, grandmother, Sheila Harrell of Milwaukee Wisconsin, grandfathers, Karl Spencer of Seattle Washington and Sherman Steele (Queenie) of Durham, North Carolina; aunties: Xabrianna Lyba of Seattle Washington, ShuFonda Rand, Lakesha Patterson, Kenyatta Covington all of Durham; uncles: Stephen Steele Sr., LaRico Steele, Jermaine Covington, and Nick Covington all of Durham; twenty-one nieces and nephews; one sister in law, Ashley Steele and a host of other relatives and friends including his special friend, Destiny Blount.
A Visitation for Mr. Steele will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at the H.D. Pope Funeral Home, 325 Nash Street, Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Church of the Apostolic Revival, 1207 Angier Ave. in Durham, North Carolina beginning at 11:00 am. Interment will immediately follow the service in the Glennview Memorial Park Cemetery, Durham, North Carolina.
