Sabina Bartosiak Obituary

Mrs. Sabina Teresa Bartosiak, age 90, of Largo, FL, passed away early Saturday morning, February 15, 2025, at her home. She was born on April 16, 1934, in Warsaw, Poland, the daughter of Jan and Zofia Sewastianow. Sabina was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Ryszard Bartosiak; her sister Jadwiga Kaczorek; her brother, Jerzy Sewastianow; her step-sister Maria; her step-brothers Stanislaw Jackowicz and Henry Sewastianow; her daughter-in-law Barbara Bartosiak. She was deeply rooted in her Catholic faith. She loved animals, especially her fearless chihuahua guard dog, Agatek, crossword puzzles, gardening, knitting, sewing, and the company of her family and friends. Sabina is survived by her son, daughter and son-in-law, Zbigniew Bartosiak of East Hartford, CT, and Bozena Zatorski (Tadeusz) of Largo, FL; three grandchildren and their spouses Kathy Gokey (Eric) of Bristol, CT, Angelica Hay (Robert) of Largo, FL, and Adam Bartosiak of East Hartford, CT; and four great-grandchildren, Krystian and Bianka Hay of Largo, FL, and Gregory and Zachary Gokey of Bristol, CT. She also leaves behind many extended family members and friends in Poland and Connecticut. Sabina grew up in Warsaw, Poland, during the Second World War and left school after the seventh grade to help care for her family. She entered the workforce at 16 as a die maker at Swierczewski Factory and worked there for 34 years. That is where she met her husband, Ryszard. They raised their children in Warsaw and later followed them to the United States, where they took an active role in the lives of their grandchildren. "Babcia Sabinka" loved taking the grandchildren on daily walks to the park, the local donut shop, and to visit friends. She cooked and baked delicious Polish meals that no one was allowed to decline. She took great pride in her Polish heritage and made sure her grandchildren learned to speak and read the language. Her easy laughter and joy will be greatly missed and her legacy will carry on forever. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, March 21st at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 158 Broad St., New Britain. She will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Reception to follow at Crystal Ballroom in New Britain, CT. To share a memory with her family, please visit us at www.duksa.net.
