Sadie Aycock

January 1, 1953 – August 14, 2025

Snow Hill – Sadie Ann Turner Aycock, 72, set out for her final journey on Thursday, August 14, 2025. She was born in Lenoir County on January 1, 1953, to the late Robert L. and Ruby Louise Hughes Turner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Ashley Michelle Warren; and brother, Robert Lee Turner.

Sadie spent many years as a cosmetologist, where her chair became much more than a place to have your hair done. It was a space where friendships were formed, secrets were shared, and problems were solved. She cherished each of her clients and continued working every Wednesday morning for those dearest to her. Wednesday was the only day she arrived late to Warren's Supply, where she was equally devoted to the many customers who walked through the door. With a perpetual smile, her vibrant personality and sincere care for others made everyone feel like they were her closest friend.

With an unmatched love for travel, Sadie enjoyed countless trips to places like New York City, Atlantic City, Biloxi, Danville, and Cherokee. If it involved traveling, shopping, or gambling, Sadie was all in, and always eager to bring others along for the ride. Anyone who knew her likely heard the familiar question: "Don't you want to go to New York?" Whether it was a quick overnight trip or an extended stay, Sadie was the ideal travel companion.

Sadie's nurturing nature shone brightest in her love for family and friends. You never left her home hungry as she insisted on offering at least a sandwich before you walked out the door. She especially enjoyed meals out, particularly if there was a deal on all-you-can-eat crab legs. While the food was good, it was the company she truly treasured. Never one to hold back, if a conversation began with, "I hate to tell you, shug, but…", you knew to pay attention.

With a heart full of compassion, Sadie made friends easily and loved fiercely. Her kindness extended beyond her human relationships; her love for animals was just as deep and genuine.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Monday, August 18, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home. A private committal service will follow on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, in the family cemetery.

Sadie is survived by her husband, David Warren; son, Kevin Aycock and wife, Michelle; daughters, Haley Warren Jacobs and husband, Dylan and Angie Moore and husband, Gene; grandchildren, Kevin Aycock II, Ashli Garner, Cameron McAteer, and CJ McAteer, Nacine Macko, and Krista Jones; great-grandchildren, Sophia and Hallie; sisters, Linda Barrow (Roger) and Susan Boyd (John); niece and nephews, Crystal Durso (Tony), Mark Boyd, and Michael Rouse; long-time friend, Mrs. Dorothy; her beloved "brown dog," Susie; and countless friends she made along life's journey.

Online condolences may be shared at www.rousefh.com. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Lenoir County SPCA, P.O. Box 1481, Kinston, NC 28503 in honor of Sadie's enduring love for animals. Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.
