Sadie Farrior Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stringer Family Funeral Homes on Oct. 4, 2025.
Sadie P. Farrior of Crystal Springs gained her wings September 23, 2025. Services will be held at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Crystal Springs on Saturday, October 4, 2025. Visitation will be from 11:00am - 12:00pm with the service beginning at 12pm. Graveside service will be at 2:00pm at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery, Vicksburg.

Ms. Farrior was born in Smithfield, North Carolina and was raised in a modest upbringing on a tobacco farm along with her two brothers and two sisters. She was a graduate of Smithfield High School.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward V. Farrior; parents, Richard Allen Pilkington and Lillian Madison Shaw; daughter-in-law, Candy Farrior; brother, Walter Pilkington; brother, Charles Pilkington; sister, Esther P. Evans; and sister Patricia P. Baldwin. She is survived by her daughter, Joan Baker (Greg) of Birmingham, AL; son, Charles Farrior of Huntsville, AL; grandson, Wyatt Farrior of Huntsville, AL; a close cousin, Ann Shaw Game of Selma, NC; and several nephews, grandnephews, and grandnieces.

Upon moving to Mississippi, Ms. Farrior worked for the Army Corps of Engineers for nearly 30 years. While in Vicksburg, she was an active member in the local Order of the Eastern Star and was also active in her Vicksburg church where she taught Sunday School for several years and participated in mission trips. After retiring and moving to Crystal Springs, she was active in the First Baptist Church where she participated in the Adult Choir, the Women's Mission Union, and the English as a Second Language class. She has beloved friends in both communities.

While her children were young, Ms. Farrior enjoyed taking them on annual vacations to visit with her North Carolina family at the beach, the lake and in their homes where lots of fond memories were made. In her later years, she was happiest in Crystal Springs where she lived for almost 30 years and enjoyed horses, fishing, collecting rocks, and gardening; particularly her flowering plants that brought her great joy. But it was her grandson, Wyatt, who had a special place in her heart and was her greatest joy.

The family would like to express their love and gratitude to Shavonda Smith, Barbara Benton, Martha Swaney, Shirley Wilson, and Jeff and Nina Upton for their visits and support of Ms. Farrior during the last year of her life.
