It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr. Saeed Bajwa, a beloved husband, father, and esteemed neurosurgeon, who passed away on December 13, 2024 at the age of 73. Dr. Bajwa's remarkable career as a neurosurgeon in the United States, his dedication to his patients, and his kindness to those around him will never be forgotten.
Dr. Bajwa was born in Rahim Yar Khan, Pakistan, and moved to the United States in 1980 to pursue his medical career. His passion for medicine and healing led him to specialize in neurosurgery, a field in which he made an extraordinary impact. After completing his medical training, Dr. Bajwa continued his career as a doctor in the U.S., where he spent many years treating patients with compassion, expertise, and tireless commitment. His patients, colleagues, and staff remember him as a compassionate and patient-centered physician, always seeking the best outcomes for those under his care. Beyond his work as a doctor, Dr. Bajwa was also deeply committed to humanitarian efforts, contributing his time and expertise to underserved communities both locally and abroad, bringing medical care and hope to those in need.
Dr. Bajwa's work in the medical community went far beyond the operating room. He was a mentor to countless young doctors, a leader in advancing neurosurgical techniques, and a strong advocate for education and research in the field. He was deeply thankful for the opportunities the United States offered him and never took for granted the privilege of practicing medicine in this country.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Bajwa was a loving and devoted family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Zaikra, and his children: Zafar (Maria Bajwa), Omer (Lisa Kinney-Bajwa), Khurram (Sidra Malik), Nida (Omar Sattar), and Lina (Nabeel Minhas). His many grandchildren, were the light of his life, and his love for his family knew no bounds. His unwavering support, kindness, and warmth will remain an enduring part of their memories.
Throughout his life, Dr. Bajwa expressed his gratitude for the opportunities he received and for all those who supported him throughout his journey. He was always humble, generous, and ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, whether in his professional or personal life.
Dr. Bajwa will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, expertise, and dedication to his profession and family will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Islamic Organization of The Southern Tier in memory of Dr. Bajwa. He was laid to rest at the IOST Cemetery, Johnson City, NY. May his soul rest in peace.
