NORFOLK - It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sallie A. Brothers, 78, a resident of 144 River Rd,
Norfolk, NY. Born in 1947, Sallie left us on Tuesday evening, January 6, 2026 at SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY; leaving a void that can never be filled. With Sallie's departure, we remember a life lived with the joy of guiding those seeking knowledge and a constant sense of vigilance and passion of caring for her community. Sallie's pugnacious spirit, support, and unique love will forever live on in the hearts of her husband and children. Sallie is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Thomas A, Brothers, Norfolk; her two daughters, Michelle Saroha, Keansburg, NJ and Joelle Dowe, Norfolk; her siblings, Lionel J. LeCuyer and his wife Josephine LeCuyer of
Massena, NY and Sharon Seeber and her husband Colin Seeber of
Norfolk, NY, her sister-in-law, Betty LeCuyer of Winthrop, and her lifelong friend Cheryl Terrance of Brasher Falls, NY. Sallie was also blessed with many beloved nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Sallie was pre-deceased by her parents, her brother, Richard C. LeCuyer, and her granddaughter, Claire Ann Dowe.
Born in
Massena, NY on November 22, 1947 to the late Loinel and Melba Leaney LeCuyer, Sallie graduated from Norwood-Norfolk High School and received a Master's Degree in the Science of Education from SUNY Potsdam. Sallie dedicated her life to nurturing others, a trait evident in her cherished roles as a wife, mother, aunt, and friend. She worked as a beloved social studies teacher at Lisbon Central School for over 33 years, where her warmth and patience touched countless young lives for generations. After retirement from teaching, Sallie became a St. Lawrence County Legislator, serving the County for over a decade contributing to the continued strength of the community.
Sallie will be remembered for her infectious smile and laughter, her legendary pie crust, her passion for ceramics and quilting, and the comforting sound of her words of encouragement to those in the community needing advice or a helping hand. She taught her family the meaning of resilience, resourcefulness, and strength and always offered a listening ear and a warm embrace. In her spare time, Sallie was an active member of many charitable and community organizations including but not limited to the Antique Automobile Club of America, Fortnightly, and the St. Lawrence County Democratic Committee. Sallie enjoyed spending her time side by side with her husband most of all whether they were enjoying attending NASCAR races, traveling to many places in America and Europe, or enjoying the old T-Bird rides and Model T tours throughout the years. She also enjoyed attending Estate Sales and Saturday morning scavenger hunts for yard sales with her sister and children. An avid NFL fan, she loved her Greenbay Packers, Bills, and Giants, and passed on her football fever to both of her girls.
The Family will be hosting calling hours on Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 2 - 6 p.m. at the Buck Funeral Home in Norfolk and a memorial service will be held at the Church of the Visitation on Friday, January 23, 2026 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Raymond Moreau presiding. A Celebration of Life gathering for Sallie for family and close friends will follow. Memorial donations in Sallie's memory can be made to the Norfolk Volunteer Rescue Squad and the Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department and memories and condolences may be shared online at www.buckfuneralhome.com . Sallie's memory will be forever cherished by her loving family, friends, and colleagues.
