Sallie Rogers, age 79, of Charleston, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of July 7, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones and the compassionate care of Hearth Hospice, after a courageous and grace-filled battle.
Born to Leevon Hicks and Pearl Frances Hollis West Hicks, Sallie lived a life marked by love, strength, and deep faith. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose greatest joy came from caring for and supporting her family.
She is survived by her beloved husband, David Rogers of 59 years and her cherished children, Kimberly Ann King and Michael Rogers. Sallie was a proud and loving grandmother to Tyson Garrett King, Ali Ashlin King, Michael Jared Rogers, Karen (Bradley) Davis and Christine (Candace) Guevara. Great grand children Kate Guevara, Karley, Kaylee, Kinsley and Kingston Davis. Her legacy lives on in each of them-in their talents, values, and the love she so freely gave. She also leaves behind her sisters Brenda Patton, Marie Anderson, and brother Bud Hicks.
She is reunited in peace with her sisters Helen Malone, Cecil Dickinson, Nellie Martin and brother B.O. Hicks.
Sallie spent many years working as a manager at JCPenny's and later Belk, where she was known for her warmth, elegance, and kindness to all she served. Outside of work, her heart belonged entirely to her family. She never missed a chance to support her grandchildren-from local games to traveling around the country to support them. Sallie was always in the stands, cheering with pride and love.
Her faith sustained her through many of life's challenges, especially in her final chapter. One verse she often repeated brought her comfort and now brings peace to her family:
"Do not fear, for I am with you." Isaiah 41:10
They know she is now in the loving arms of God, whole and at peace.
Sallie's light, laughter, and deep love for her family will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
