Sally Jo Fluhr

Sally Jo Fluhr, 83, passed away on November 4, 2025, at Norton Clark Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana. She was born on March 8, 1942 in Scottsburg, Indiana, to Irven Sweet and Elizabeth (Link) Sweet. Sally married the love of her life, Alva Fluhr, Sr., on September 29, 1959 and he preceded her in death on October 2, 2015. As a homemaker, Sally found joy in the warmth of her family, dedicating her life to nurturing her eleven children. In her earlier years, Sally found camaraderie and joy as a member of the Moose Lodge in Sellersburg, where she enjoyed moments spent in the company of her husband. The couple shared a passion for bowling, often finding themselves side by side, laughing and celebrating each other's victories, big and small. Sally's strength and resilience made her a pillar for her family where she instilled in them perseverance, kindness, and the importance of family. In addition to her parents and late husband, Alva Fluhr, Sr., Sally is preceded in death by her four brothers, Robert Sweet, Irvin Sweet, Jr., Ricky Sweet, and James Sweet; one sister, Florence Powers; and one son in law, John Mayville. Sally is survived by her eleven children, William (Joyce) Howell, Jr., Belinda Bowling (Kevin) of Underwood, Indiana, Alva "Buster" (Tawyna) Fluhr, Jr. of Sellersburg, Indiana, Wanda (John) Burge of Scottsburg, Indiana, Peter (Becky) Fluhr of Sellersburg, Indiana, Janice Mayville of Sellersburg, Indiana, Rowena "Anne" (Brian) Meredith of Sellersburg, Indiana, Alisa (Philip) Amos of Kodak, Tennessee, Bonnie (Brian) Embry of New Albany, Indiana, Phillip (Tiffany) Fluhr of Salem, Indiana, and Stanley (Jessica) Fluhr of Pekin, Indiana; one brother, Herman "Butch" Sweet; three sisters, Pat Amos, Dixie Robinson, and Deborah Hurtt; forty grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025 at 11:00am at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 9, 2025 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Collins Funeral Home and on Monday prior to the service starting at 9:00am to 11:00am.
