Sally Jane Hawkins

Sally J. (Russell) Hawkins, 80, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 18, 2025. She was born September 10, 1945, in Jackson, Michigan, the daughter of Clarence C. and Mary F. (Smith) Russell.

Sally graduated from North Adams-Jerome High School in 1963. After graduation, she temporarily worked at Jonesville Products and Hawkins Motor Sales. Four years after graduation, she married the love of her life, Donald L. Hawkins, on August 16, 1970, in North Adams, Michigan where they began a storybook romance together. Don and Sally recently celebrated 55 years of marriage. During their 55 year marriage, she and Don were blessed with two children and she held the greatest job of all as a stay-at-home mom.

Sally's passing leaves an immense void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She was a pillar of strength and a beacon of love, and her presence will be deeply missed. While we mourn this profound loss, we find comfort in the countless memories of her generous spirit and the lasting impact she had on our lives.

Sally is survived and loved by her husband, Don, her children and greatest achievements, Mark (Teresa) Hawkins, Dawn (Elmer) Hitt, her grandchildren, Ridge, Reece, and Rayah Hitt, Abby and Ryder Hawkins and Trysten Angel. She is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond (Tex) and Bonnie Hawkins, Gary and Kathy Hawkins, Richard and Inga Hawkins, Dallas and Ammie Hawkins, Jennifer Russell, and numerous nieces and nephews. Sally will be missed by her lifelong friends, Kerri Nash and Sherry Kilbourn. She was predeceased in death by her parents, Clarence and Mary Russell, and siblings, Patricia Adams and Max Russell.

The family would like to thank Elara Services for their dedication and commitment to giving our mother top notch care while she was ill. The family would also like to give a special thanks to Jennifer Russell, mom's sister-in-law, for stepping in and being Sally's 24/7 care taker. Jennifer was truly an angel in disguise. And finally, to Doug Adams, Sally's special nephew, for assisting with his loving services.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the Hampton Funeral Home, 3380 West Carleton Road, Hillsdale, Michigan. Pastor Hopkins, a dear family friend, will be officiating the celebration of life beginning at 5:00 p.m. Family and friends are encouraged to share their favorite memories of Sally.
