Sally Howard

Sally (Eldridge) Howard passed away peacefully at home on February 23, 2025, in Plymouth, Massachusetts, just one day after celebrating her 90th birthday. Born on February 22, 1935, in Plymouth to Dean and Elizabeth Eldridge, she remained deeply connected to her hometown throughout her life.
Sally was a graduate of Plymouth High School and continued her education at Colby-Sawyer College. She married Joseph Howard, with whom she shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a loving home and raised their children in Somerville and Lincoln, Massachusetts, before returning to Plymouth later in life.
A woman of warmth and creativity, Sally had a generous spirit and a great sense of humor that endeared her to all who knew her. She found joy in raising her family and had a deep love for animals, especially her beloved cat, Sweeney. She also took great pleasure in feeding and watching her bird "friends." Sally's creative talents shone through in various crafts, and she was known as a formidable Scrabble champion. In her younger years, she delighted in roller skating, embracing the activity with enthusiasm.
Summers were especially cherished by Sally, as she loved hosting pool parties for her children and grandchildren-gatherings filled with laughter and lasting memories. She was also a devoted member of Chiltonville Congregational Church, where she found community and faith.
Sally is survived by her children: Julie Head and her husband Chris, Pamela Finn and her husband Mike, Ann Basile and her husband Joe, and Christian Howard and his wife Jeannette. She was also a cherished grandmother to seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Sally was predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph Howard; her sisters Joan Arnold, Nancy Eldridge, Deanna Eldridge; her son in law Stephen Basile; and her granddaughter Taylor Finn.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Comfort Keepers and Cranberry Hospice for their exceptional care, kindness, and loving support.
Sally's generosity, humor, and love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at CARTMELL -DAVIS LIFE CELEBRATION FUNERAL HOME, 619 State Rd. Plymouth, MA (Manomet) from 11:00AM-1:00PM followed by a reception at the John Alden Club, 16 Minuteman Ln, Plymouth. Remembrances can be made through contributions to Cranberry Hospice in Plymouth.
