Sally Kay Knott, a beloved wife, mom, grandmama, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in
Jacksonville, NC, on January 3, 2026, at the age of 68. She was born on July 1, 1957, in El Paso, TX to the late Roger Roberson and Mary (Balster) Roberson. Sally lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to her family and community.
Her career as an insurance agent with Compass Insurance spanned eight years, where she served her clients with dedication and care. Previously, she shared her professional talents at Little Bank before its closing and dedicated over 10 years of employment at Marine Federal Bank.
Sally had a variety of interests that brought joy to her and those around her. She loved playing video games and was an avid fan of sports, often cheering alongside her beloved husband. Her love for cooking was well-known among family and friends, as everything she cooked was good; she delighted in having family gatherings. In her later years, she became very political, an interest that baffled her family for its sudden and passionate onset. Above all, she cherished her role as a grandmother, creating lasting memories with her beloved grandchildren.
A woman of faith, Sally found great comfort and community at Trinity Methodist Church, where she was an active and involved member.
Sally is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Michael Knott; her daughters, Mary Helmkamp and her husband, Philip of Cary, and Becca Abeyounis and her husband, Brian of Leland; her son, Mikey Knott of Seattle, Washington; and her cherished grandchildren, Wyatt and Eloise Helmkamp. She also leaves behind her sisters, Madge Slavic of
Silver City, NM, Mary Ann Isaac of
Philadelphia, PA, Susan Johnson of
York, PA and Nancy Davis of McKaysville, GA; and her brother, Roger Roberson of
Southaven, MS.
Per Sally's wishes, there will be no formal services. Instead, her family invites you to remember her in your own way-perhaps by playing a round of her favorite video game, cooking a meal in her honor, or simply sharing a laugh with loved ones.
Sally Kay Knott will be remembered as a loving, funny, and stubborn woman who lived life on her own terms. Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories of her vibrant spirit and the joy she brought into their lives.
