Sally Lou Squibb Maggard

Sally Lou Squibb Maggard left this earth on, November 10, 2022, and walked into the arms of Jesus. She was known as Mom, Sister, Mamaw, and Friend. Her sweet spirit and bright smile will be missed by those she loved. Sally loved watching deer, squirrels, birds, and the chipmunk she named Charlie in the back yard. She liked to work outside and did regular warfare with sticks and leaves and if possible, she would build a fire.
In the front pages of her Bible, Sally had written, "Success in the home is never gauged by the incoming of money and stuff, but by love." She loved decorating a home. She might buy 5 rugs and take 4 of them back before she decided which one was perfect. But she also knew a home was more about love than stuff. She would welcome you at the door with a big hug and try to feed you the whole time you were with her and send you off with another hug and an "I love you."
Sally liked to go out to dinner, and she liked to pay. A real battle could pursue over who paid the bill. Next time you go to McAllister's or Cracker Barrel, please think of Sally, and know if she could, she'd buy your dinner. Out of 7 sisters, no one expected Sally to be the 1st to go to heaven. She was the designated caregiver, and she was the best at it. She had a real gift for taking care of others and considered it her job. And we all knew better than to get in her way when she was determined to do something. She always said she was planning to live to be 120, so her absence will be felt by many. How will we know when it's someone's birthday? Sally was the keeper of all the family birthdays. She sent everyone a card and told everyone else how old you were.
In another section of her Bible, Sally had written, "We are called to believe, not to understand." Those are wise words to cling to during our grief. In Nahum 1:7, she had highlighted "The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those that trust in him." So now we will believe that Sally is with her Savior in Heaven, and we will believe, even when we don't understand, that God's timing is perfect.
Sally is preceded in death by her parents – Carl & Obelene Squibb, Husband Jack Maggard, and her three brothers – Gene Squibb, Johnny Squibb, and Bobby Squibb.
Sally is survived by her: Sons – Greg Lindsey, Scott Lindsey and wife Anita, Grandsons – Joshua Lindsey and Tanner Lindsey, Brothers and sisters – Nancy Squibb, Judy Wright, Jack Squibb, Kay Sharp, twin sister Sue Herrin, Sandra Evans, Rebecca Blair, Stepchildren – Terri Reed (husband Chris) and Sean Maggard, Step grandchildren – Victoria, Blake, Collin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, November 15, 2022, 2:00 pm at White Chapel Cemetery. The family ask that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Glidewell Baptist Church, 5801 North Farm Road 141, Springfield, MO 65803.
