Salvador "Papa Chava" Alvarez

With heavy hearts, we share the sad news of the passing of our wonderful dad, Salvador "Papa Chava" Alvarez, on Sunday night, November 9, 2025. He was surrounded by his loved ones as he entered peacefully into eternal life. Salvador was married for 59 years to the love of his life, Soledad, and together they built a loving and nurturing home for their children. He was the devoted father of Susana (David) Koulouris, Sylvia (J. Jesus) Guerrero, Sergio (Consuelo) Alvarez, Sandra (Ibrahim) Hazeen, and Sonia (Candelario) De Dios. He was a cherished grandfather to Ana, Jacob, Noah, Alyssa (Tony) Guzman, Emily (Cameron) Harvey, Stephanie (Sean) Finley, Sergio II, Salvador III, Sumer, Sumayah, Salma, Sofia, and Sean, and a proud great-grandfather to Niko, Elena, Luka, Caleb, and the late Adalyn. Salvador will be lovingly remembered by his brothers and sisters, and by many nieces, nephews, and friends. He had a deep love for nature and found joy and peace in caring for God's creatures. His warmth, empathy, kindness, gentle spirit, and generous heart touched everyone who knew him. A hardworking man, Salvador devoted 41 years of service to Corn Products (Ingredion). He left behind a legacy of integrity and dedication. Visitation will be held at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 West Archer Ave., Summit (55th Street, just west of Harlem) on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 9:00 AM until the time of a Service in Celebration of Salvador's Life at 11:00 AM (Spanish service). A procession will follow to Resurrection Cemetery, where Salvador will be laid to rest.
