Salvatore Candilora

Salvatore Candilora, 100 of Tinton Falls, New Jersey passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
Born Friday, August 1, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York, Salvatore was the son of the late Barney and Mary Candilora.
Salvatore was raised in the Prospect Park neighborhood of Brooklyn. After graduating from High School, Salvatore enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country honorably during World War II. Salvatore landed in Japan, but would also serve in the Philippines with his Airborne Unit. After returning home from the war Salvatore attended and graduated from Brooklyn College. He would then meet the love of his life, Marie Crissalli, and the couple would marry.
Salvatore and Marie lived in Bensonhurst, and that is where they started their family. They would eventually move to the Eltingville section of Staten Island, and that is where they raised their children.
Salvatore had a long career in the Insurance industry. He worked with American Home Insurance when he graduated from Brooklyn College, but then would have a long career with Johnson and Higgins in New York City. After retiring, Salvatore and Marie moved to Tinton Falls, NJ to be closer to family.
Salvatore enjoyed spending his time tending to his garden, and was extremely handy around the house with any job that needed to be done. He enjoyed spending downtime painting, and later in life enjoyed cooking. Above all he was a kind and loving family man, who will be missed by all those that love him.
Salvatore was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marie, and by his son in law Stephen Whyte.
Salvatore is survived by his loving children, Karen Whyte, and Stephen Candilora, by his caring sister Frances Rhodes, by his cherished grandchildren, John and his wife Melissa, Stephen and his wife Lisa, and Paul, and by his adored great grandchildren, John Anthony, Sebastian, Madelaina, and Sienna.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals and Cremation Service, 3377 US Highway 9, Old Bridge, New Jersey.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 AM on Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church located at 18 South Street Spotswood, New Jersey 08884. Entombment will be in Holy Cross Burial Park, East Brunswick, NJ.
