Salvatrice Mattina

On January 12, 2024, Salvatrice Mattina passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 80. For the last years of her life, she called Hawthorne, NJ her home. Born on February 24, 1943, in Sicily, Italy, Salvatrice was 1 of 10 children born to Federico Tona and Giuseppina Mendola.
Beloved mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend. Salvatrice is survived by her husband Antonio Mattina, daughter Anna Maria Passafiume, grandson Richard Michael Passafiume, brothers, sisters and many lovely nieces and nephews.
Married to the love of her life in December 1966, they later embarked on a journey with their family to the United States, in July 1968 and settled in New Jersey.
Salvatrice was a humble woman; her family and friends meant the world to her. A woman that would do anything and give you all she had. We are very fortunate to have had her in our lives teaching us the values of love, respect, compassion, and empathy. Her grandson Richard was the light and ray of sunshine in her world, he and other family members were able to make her final days memorable, joyful, and complete.
