David Curtis Plowman, age 69, of West Milford passed away peacefully on Monday, December 22, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
Dave was born to Curtis and Marion Plowman on January 13, 1956. He graduated from Midland Park High School in
Midland Park, NJ having been a member of the concert and marching band with the Class of 1974.
Dave started working at 13 years old as a vet assistant. He continued his working career in various grocery stores and moved to warehouse management as a foreman for Ridgewood Corporation. Dave worked for Ridgewood Corp. until a car accident left him injured and on disability. Although he was devastated to not be working anymore, he was able to dedicate more of his time to his family.
Dave was a loving and caring man who was devoted to his wife and children. In his free time, he loved reading sci-fi and fantasy novels in the company of his dogs. He was a lover of science and history and would converse with anyone who would listen on these topics. He was passionate about music having played the trombone, euphonium and baritone in several community bands including The Bloomingdale Cornet Band, The Franklin Concert Band and North Jersey Concert Band.
His love of music brought him to his wife, Debbie Furino, through the Bloomingdale Cornet Band. They met marching in parades and dated for two years before marrying on August 16, 1986. Together they had and raised four children: Brittany, Shawn, Shaina and Braeden. They have enjoyed a loving marriage of 40 years.
Dave is predeceased by his father Curtis Plowman, his mother Marion (Kehrle) Donnelly, his sister Jill Plowman and his brother Mark Plowman. He is survived by his wife Debbie; his children: Brittany Plowman, Shawn Plowman and wife Brittany, Shaina Plowman-Van Zile and husband Chad, and Braeden Plowman; his three beloved grandchildren; his siblings: Gary Plowman and wife Michelle, Drew Plowman and wife Cheryl, Dana Smith and husband Rich, Mike Donnelly, Chris Donnelly and Beth DeVries; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave,
Wyckoff, NJ on Monday, December 29, 2025, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM.
