Sam A. Manning Sr., 90, of Mobile, AL, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 4, 2024. Sam was born in Brewton, AL, and grew up in Prichard, AL. Sam was married to his loving wife, Helen, for nearly 62 years. The two enjoyed traveling, especially to the Smokey Mountains to see the leaves change in the fall. They also enjoyed watching the Braves and the Crimson Tide games together. Sam was a machinist in the aerospace industry for more than 40 years. His favorite pastime was making memories with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Juanita Manning; parents James Manning Sr. and Frances Sharpe; stepfather Ellis Sharpe; four brothers James "Jimmy," Albert "Buddy," Barry, and Roger; and two sisters Bobbie and Judy.

He is survived by his children Michelle (John Sr.) Beasley and Sam Manning Jr.; brother Marcus (Alison) Manning; sister Beverly (Chuck) Brownlee; grandchildren John (Amanda) Beasley Jr., Kristen (Walter) Petersen, Amber (Johnathan) Day, Sam Manning III, Shane (Aneisa) Herring, and Scott Manning; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Graveside service will be held Monday, December 9, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
