Sam Pheffer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals Inc. on Sep. 11, 2023.
Obituary
Sam Pheffer, (affectionately known as Poppa) a cherished and respected member of the Keansburg community, passed away peacefully at the age of 98 on September 7, 2023, in Holmdel. Born on September 20, 1924, in Kansas City, Missouri, and has been a life- long resident of Keansburg.
Sam was the beloved son of the late Morris and Ida Pheffer. He was predeceased by his wife, Lillian Pheffer, 2 sons, Jimmy and Bobby Pheffer, and his dear daughter, Arlene Crinigan. His legacy continues with his remaining family, including his 3 sons, Richard, Dennis and Garry Pheffer, his 4 daughters and son-in-law, Donna & Richard Barna, Debbie Pheffer, Cheryl De Marais and Linda Cusano. Sam was incredibly proud of his large family, which includes 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. He held a special place in his heart for his granddaughter Melissa and her children, who lovingly cared for him in his later years.
As a young man, Sam served in the US Navy during World War II from 1942-1945. After his service, Sam embarked on a career as a self-employed upholsterer, a trade that he loved and excelled in. His skill and passion for making furniture were evident in his work, which he pursued until the remarkable age of 93.
Sam was a man of simple pleasures. He found joy in watching his favorite TV shows, indulging in good food, and sitting in the warm sun. Wrestling was a particular favorite of his. These cherished moments have become precious memories for his loved ones.
Sam Pheffer's memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and the community he held dear. Rest in peace, Sam Pheffer. Your life was a gift to us all.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday, from 5-7 p.m. at the Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals 233 Carr Ave. Keansburg. On Tuesday, Sept 12, 2023, at 9:30 am a Mass of Christian burial will be offered at St. Catherine's Church, Middletown Cremation was private
