Sam Williams Jr.

Sam Williams, Jr. was born on March 28, 1929, in Sicily Island, Louisiana, to Sam Williams, Sr. and Sallie Smith Williams McCarthy. He was the eldest brother of Earl Williams, Sr. Sam accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and was baptized at True Light Baptist Church in Winnsboro, Louisiana.
On March 15, 1957, he married Alma George of Magnolia, Arkansas. To this union were born a daughter, Brenda Elaine, and a son, Eric Tyrone.
He graduated from Franklin Parish Training School in Winnsboro, Louisiana, in 1948. After graduation, he entered the United States Army and served four years, receiving an honorable discharge. He later attended Southern University, where, in 1957, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Education. In 1967, he went on to receive a master's degree in Guidance and Counseling from Atlanta University and later completed a Plus 30 program at the University of Southern Mississippi.
Sam devoted his professional life to education, serving as a business teacher, principal, and guidance counselor in the Concordia Parish School System. He was a charter member of the Concordia Parish Employees Credit Union, where he served on the board and as a loan officer. He retired from the Concordia Parish School System in 1988 after 31 years of dedicated service. He also served on the Concordia Parish School Board and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the American Legion.
Sam was instrumental in assisting students from the community with college entry requirements. Many returned over the years to visit and credit him with helping them establish successful and meaningful pathways in life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Gwendlyn Williams; his son, Gregory Williams; and his brother, Earl Williams, Sr.
Sam is survived by his wife, Alma Williams of Celina, Texas; his daughter, Brenda Young (Michael) of Celina, Texas; his son, Eric Williams (Tanya) of Georgetown, Texas; his grandchildren, Nafeesha Pulliam (James) of Rahway, New Jersey, O'Sheaka Bellmar (Fred) of Gretna, Louisiana, Brandon Williams (Kristen) of Round Rock, Texas, Brentic Williams of Georgetown, Texas, and Brelyn Williams of Frisco, Texas.
