Stephen Williams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Welch Funeral Home - Marks Chapel on Jan. 25, 2026.
Stephen Richard Williams, age 70, of Farnham, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his beloved family, on Friday, January 23, 2026.

Stephen was born on March 20, 1955, in Quincy, Massachusetts, to the late Richard and Eleanor Williams.

A skilled auto body mechanic by trade, Stephen had an undeniable love for vehicles of all kinds-cars, trucks, and anything with an engine. He found happiness in restoring, remodeling, and perfecting them, pouring his creativity into every project. A true handyman, there was little he couldn't fix, and his talents extended beyond mechanics. Stephen was creative at heart and loved to draw, always finding ways to express himself through his hands and imagination.

Above all else, Stephen loved his family; beyond words, beyond measure. He had a rare gift for meeting people and turning them into family, welcoming them with loyalty, humor, and genuine care. His life was certainly filled with deep connections.

During his illness, Stephen was surrounded by devotion and compassion. His family, along with his devoted caregivers, who became cherished members of his family, provided exceptional care, comfort, and love. Their dedication was a reflection of how deeply Stephen was loved.

Stephen is survived by his beloved wife, Rita Williams; his sons, Richard Williams and Ryan Williams; his daughters, Kelly Williams and Amanda McSweeney; his brother, James Williams; and his sisters, Louise Schaller, Gabrielle Williams, Jamie Williams, and Zoe Williams. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; his uncle, Ronald Williams; and his "girls," his cherished caregivers, Rebecka and April.

He is also lovingly remembered by his four-legged companion and baby girl, Isabelle, who never left his side.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Katherine Wilson.

Stephen will be remembered for his creativity, his craftsmanship, his kindness, and most of all, his unwavering love for his family. His presence will be deeply missed, but the love he built and the lives he touched will carry his memory always.
