Augusta, GA - Mr. Sammie L. Williams, 74, a native of Elko, SC, was a member of Tommy Ellison & The Five Singing Stars, which later became known as The Legendary Singing Stars, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
Home Going Celebration for Mr. Sammie L. Williams, "Sam" will be conducted on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Ned Branch Baptist Church, 10620 Dunbarton Blvd., Barnwell, SC 29812, with Reverend Anthony F. Gadson officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday, March 1, 2025, 12:30 PM - 6:00 PM and Sunday, March 2, 2025, at 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM at Simmons Funeral Home of Williston, Inc. & Cremation Service.

This has got to be one of the few in the group that again has hit me like a ton of bricks.
My condolences to the Williams family and friends who were also affected by such a great loss. Surely Sammy Lee, will truly be missed.
I was 15 years old when I stood side by side in a Celebrity Barbershop in Brooklyn NY, the Brownsville section. I would often purposely save a dime to play the juke box that was filled with most of our Brooklyn gospel greats. I'd stop there everyday after-school just to hear, " love me like a rock " and one day I was asked to serve ices out front, and that began my employment under the leadership of Charlie Baker, I was so spoiled by these men that took me under their wing and treated me like I was family.
I got to meet Sam's family, his wife then Barbara and his pride and joy son Anthony as a toddler.
I just want to say, these guys were pure gentlemen, came to my house after a program to relax and enjoy a good country breakfast as my mom loved them as well.
I thank the Williams family for sharing the life of Sammy Lee Williams who taught me all I needed to survive in this world and I'm so grateful to them all. Words can never express how broken I'm feeling
He introduced me at 17, to the female quartet group " The Tears of Joy, of Brooklyn" my first group.
May God dry every tear that falls and mend every broken heart in Jesus Christ holy name Amen
