Sammy Eugene Clyatt (Sam) died on October 9, 2025. A believer in Christ's atoning death for his sins, Sam came to Christ in August 1962 while viewing a Billy Graham Crusade on TV. Sam graduated from Rich Central High School in Olympia Fields, IL and attended Tennessee Temple University from 1965-1970. He then received a Master's Degree at MTSU and he also taught there until 1975. In 1977 he joined New York Life where he has continued to work for almost 50 years. In 1982 Susan joined him at New York Life and together they created a highly successful business for the next 43 years. Both Susan and Sam acknowledge incredible clients and friends they have had the privilege of serving.

In 1988 Sam and Susan joined First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga. Together, they co-taught the McCallie Anderson Sunday School Class from 1994 until June 2025. Again, they thank the individuals of the class and acknowledge the incredible spiritual impact they had on our lives.

Sam reminds us of a scene in one of Sam's favorite movies, Rooster Cogburn. John Wayne looks deep into the eyes of Katherine Hepburn and says, "I don't know what you say half the time, but it don't matter. Being with you just pleases me." And being around Susan pleased Sam the most. They could and did set world records for sitting and staring at each other for hours on end.

Sam was the son of Sam C. Clyatt & Mamie Alexandria Squayars. He is survived by his wife and over 70 nieces and nephews.
