Sammy Lee Jurek Sr., 48, of Richmond, TX, passed away on August 18, 2025. Sammy was born on February 7, 1977, to his loving parents Larry Jurek Sr. and Beverly Ann Varnell Grigar. Sammy graduated with an associate's degree from Universal Technical Institute and is ASE Master certified. Sammy dedicated his life to teaching students at James Reese High School, shaping the minds of his students while offering real, world, hands-on experiences that will lead his students to a successful future in the automotive industry. Sammy is preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Beverly Jurek. Sammy is survived by his caring wife of 25 years, Kelli Jurek, his two sons Dyllan and Sammy Jr. (Hannah), his granddaughter Lilah, and brother Carry (Carla). Visitation will be held at Davis Greenlawn Funeral Home at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Service will begin at 03:00 PM. Expressions of remembrance and condolences are welcome and may be left for the family at www.davisgreenlawnfh.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home, 3900 B.F. Mr. Jurek, Although I was only in automotive for one year I will always remember our class we had. Between you, Mr. Hurtubise, and Mr. Barron, yall have all taught me so much that I still continue to use in my career now. I will always remember the way you were able to make me laugh and still be an amazing teacher. I wish i would have talked to you more while I was in your class. I will always appreciate you and the effort you gave me to teach me about automotive.

i was apart of the automotive program my senior year 2023-2024. mr jurek wasn´t my teacher but he he always made my classmates and i feel welcomed in the shop. one thing i can say about him is he is very passionate about the auto industry , and teaching it. i never really had a conversation with mr jurek but i can say i learned a lot from him just by listening to him during instruction and observing him teach his class, and all i can say his students were very lucky to have an instructor like him. rest is peace mr jurek
