Samuel D. Balistreri, age 50, passed away on November 2, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A lifelong resident of the Madison area, Sam spent many years working at Metro Market, where he formed close friendships and took great joy in meeting and helping customers.
Sam loved football - especially cheering on his beloved Green Bay Packers, and he enjoyed spending time gaming. He will be remembered for his kindness, quick wit, and wonderful sense of humor. Even in the most difficult moments, Sam remained in good spirits, bringing laughter and warmth to those around him.
Sam is survived by his son, Joe Balistreri; his sisters, Amy LaPlant (Chris), Angela Balistreri, and Corene Sells, whom he lovingly considered a sister; and his brother, John Balistreri, whose whereabouts are unknown. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Samantha Chitwood (Garrett), Miles LaPlant, and Arianna Balistreri; his great-nephew, Sonny Chitwood; his special friend, Kimberly Hayes; and many aunts, uncles, and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret Balistreri; and his grandparents, Sam and Mary Balistreri and Don and Helen Sweeney.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at BLACKHAWK CHURCH, 9620 Brader Way, Middleton. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m.
Sam was taken too soon and will be missed immensely by so many. He will always remain in our hearts and memories.
