It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Judith Ann (Donahoe) Traas, 71, on November 1, 2025, giving her rest after a lengthy battle with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.
Judy was born on Aug. 4, 1954, in Darlington, Wis., to Vincent and Iva (Riechers) Donahoe. As a child, Judy enjoyed helping operate the family dairy farm near Belmont, Wis. She was a 1972 graduate of Belmont High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from UW-Platteville.
Judy married Davis Traas in Madison, Wis., on Feb. 7, 1987. She worked for the UW-Madison School of Business for over 30 years. Judy’s life was filled with deep love and dedication to her sons and family – bonds that continued to bring a smile to her face even as her illness progressed. Judy was an athlete, she loved to play racquetball and golf. She also enjoyed biking, watching UW women’s basketball and sports of all kinds. Most of all, Judy loved spending time with family and friends.
Judy is survived by her husband, Davis; two sons, Jamison and Casey; four sisters, Diane (Frank) Lapacek, Barbara (Patrick) Raisbeck, Lisa (David) Ihm and Lori Duckstad; four brothers, Ronald (Mary), Gary, Michael (Becky) and John (Vicky); and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Bruce, Dave, Jim and Paul.
In keeping with Judy’s wishes, a private family celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
