Samuel Troy Briant

Sam Briant, age 77, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025. Sam was born October 5, 1948 in Warren, Arkansas to the late Gladys and Troy Briant. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Cecil Thompson, his sister Eloise Weeks and his sister, Vernelle Bearden.

He is survived by his son Troy Briant, his siter Joann Cosper and many nieces and nephews, along with his best friend, ex-wife, Leigh Hannah.

Sam enlisted in the US Marine Corps on December 1, 1966 serving 2 tours in Vietnam. Sam received the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Meritorious Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 star, Combat Action Ribbon, Rifle Experts Badge, Navy Commendation Medal with Valor and Meritorious Unit Citation. In 1968, he also received the Good Conduct Medal (1st Award) and Run Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Frame. He received an honorable discharge upon his exit home. Sam worked for the Pine Bluff Arsenal until his retirement in 2011. His favorite day was on the river. He lived his life simply, fishing and raising a garden, always ready to share what he reaped. Sam will be missed by many. He was very adamant about not having a memorial service, so in honoring him, we will grieve privately.
